UPMC Harrisburg

Susan Comp is the UPMC Central Pa. Chief Nursing Officer, and Vice President, Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer of the UPMC Harrisburg Campus. She has been in nursing leadership for 30 years. Her role across the UPMC Central Pa. is to oversee nursing practice, education and research for the seven UPMC Central Pa. hospitals.

Prior to her role as Chief Nursing Officer, she served as vice president of surgical services.

Susan led the nursing team at the UPMC Community Osteopathic and UPMC Harrisburg campuses to a third re-designation for Magnet® and the UPMC West Shore campus to its first designation in 2017.  UPMC Harrisburg and UPMC Community Osteopathic were recently re-designated for a fourth time at the end of 2021.

Susan is a member of the hospital board at UPMC Hanover, UPMC Central Pa. Board, PA Charter School, Patient Safety and Quality Committees and also a member of the UPMC Central Pa. Foundation Board.

Susan received the Visionary Luminary Award from the West Shore Chamber of Commerce and was most recently named to the Becker Hospital Review’s 2017 & 2019 top 60 hospital CNOs to know list. She is a member of the Circle of Distinction from Harrisburg Community College. Susan is a member of the Delta Mu Delta Honor Society, AONE, and AORN.
