Robin Melvin, MSN, RN
Ms. Melvin is the Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer of UPMC Northwest. She has worked in a variety of roles and settings over the last 32 years, most recently as the Magnet Program Director and Director of Education at UPMC Hamot.
Robin led UPMC Hamot to its first ANCC Magnet® Designation in 2016. She is dedicated to enhancing professional practice, professional development and the principles of shared governance. She established a vibrant councilor model at UPMC Hamot.
Ms. Melvin earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villa Maria College and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. She has been a Mercyhurst University advisory board member for their RN-BSN and MSN programs. She recently assisted with the development of their new online MSN curriculum.
Robin co-chaired the system Magnet Program Director Council for the last three years. She was selected to travel, with another colleague, to UPMC ISMETT to assist the hospital in garnering support and building infrastructure for pursing Magnet® designation. UPMC Hamot continues to host nurses from UPMC ISMETT to guide their preparation.
Ms. Melvin received the 2017 Cameos of Caring, Advanced Practice Manager Award for her work with Magnet® and building a culture that supports professional practice, quality patient care, and a positive patient experience.
