Paula M. Thomas, DNP, RN

Paula functions as the President responsible for determining the strategic direction of the UPMC Home Healthcare and Family Hospice agencies.  She partners with other members of UPMC’s post-acute continuum, as well as the leadership in the health services division and IDFS, on clinical program integration, resource management, and new care model development and implementation.

Paula has forty-four years nursing experience in medical-surgical, critical care, home care, hospice and nursing administration with thirty-five years in nursing leadership.   Prior to her role as President, she served as Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Operation Officer at UPMC Bedford for ten years.

Paula earned her diploma from Altoona Mercy School of Nursing, a BSN from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, an MSN from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and her DNP from Chatham University  She did her Doctoral Capstone Project on “Effect of Relationship-based Care on Patient Satisfaction.”

Paula participates on the UPMC Home Healthcare Board of Western PA, the UPMC Home Healthcare Board of Central PA and the Affiliates Board of Directors.  She is a member of the UPMC Innovative Homecare Solutions Board of Directors and the nVoq Board of Directors.
