Linda Kmetz, PhD, RN

Linda Kmetz, PhD, RN is the Executive Director of the five UPMC Schools of Nursing. Under Dr. Kmetz’ s leadership, the UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing received re-designation as a National League for Nursing Center of Excellence in Nursing Education for “Creating Environments that Enhance Student Learning and Professional Development”.

She is also a national consultant for the QSEN (Quality and Safety Education for Nurses), a national project funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Prior to her educational administrative positions at UPMC, Dr. Kmetz was an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the Pennsylvania State University for twelve years.

Dr. Kmetz received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration from the University of Pittsburgh School of Education.

Dr. Kmetz is Chair of the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and chairs the Constituent Leagues of the National League for Nursing. She is also a member of the National League for Nursing, the Pennsylvania League for Nursing, Eta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau and the Pittsburgh Black Nurses in Action.
