UPMC West Shore

Cheri Bechtel is the Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at UPMC West Shore since February 2018.

Formerly she was the Director of Nursing at UMPC Pinnacle West Shore and Nurse Manager of Cardio Thoracic Post Op Unit at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg. She has worked within UPMC Pinnacle since 1990.

Cheri is the nursing executive lead for the UPMC Pinnacle Nursing Pharmacy Committee and the UPMC Pinnacle Alarm Management Committee. She has led many initiatives to support patient safety in medication management and has worked to decrease alarm fatigue through the alarm management committee.

Cheri received a Diploma in Nursing from Lancaster General School of Nursing and an Associate Degree in Science from Franklin and Marshall College. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Eastern University and a Master’s Degree in Nursing Leadership from Mansfield University.

Cheri is a member of SCONL and AONL. Cheri was nominated by her peers for the Nightingale Award for Nursing Leadership. Cheri is a transformational leader and demonstrates her commitment to the nursing shared governance, clinical excellence, and patient experience.
